Another school year ends

Summer Vacation is here. Both kids ended the 2009/2010 school year on a spectacular note.

Carter is now reading, counting to well past 100, adding, subtracting and loads of other stuff. More importantly, he now enjoys doing his school work. His teacher was Noran Patterson this year and she was FABULOUS!!! I was afraid she would be easily pushed around by little man, but she proved me wrong (thankfully!). He is more than ready for Kindergarten this August.

Athena tested into the gifted program for 3rd Grade for everything but Math. She was five points off from getting into advanced Math, but it wasn't meant to be. She says that Math is not her favorite subject, but except for speed, she is really clever and good at it. Her biggest achievement in her mind and mine was her passing her Addition and Subtraction Math Facts the last week of school. She DID IT! and we are all so super proud of her! She really really struggled with this all school year and for her to get this done was phenomenal.

Besides ballet, she sang a solo in the BAE Variety Show. She sang Do-Re-Mi and she was fantastic. I was so proud of her.

So summer is here - swimming lessons, games, playing, crafts and a general break from the every day is heading our way. Oh, and did I say VACATION???? Heading to Hilton Head this month. I. can. not. wait. and neither can the kids. Stay tuned for photos. I promise to be a better poster on her this summer.

Athena's Ballet Recital for 2010

Here's videos from Athena's 2010 ballet recital. She did such a wonderful job! Of course, the one video with her individual dance with Zoe is too long to post on here. I'm going to have to put it on youtube and will send you the link.

March, April and May???

Sorry family. I have been quite remiss. Here's photos of our visit from Aunt Lizzie and Uncle James. We had so much fun!! (well, when someone or another wasn't throwing up). Outside photos were taken at Clifty Falls in Madison, IN.

February? March?

Oh lawd! where have the past two months gone?

Guess I need start in February. Seems we had some more snow. Who knew? or can remember when it's now 70 degrees and sunny? Well, the digital camera can. Photos were taken 2/6 and 2/12.

We celebrated Patrick's birthday by going to Columbus, OH and COSI Museum for the day. We went to North Street Market and had amazing popcorn and then drove back home. It was long but fun day.

Then we moved on to March. I finally remembered to take a photograph of Carter in his Tae Kwon Doe uniform. But then completely forgot to take a photo of Athena when she earned her yellow belt.

Next post will focus on the end of March and the start of April.

Stitches Boy Strikes Again

Yep, stitches again. This time it's five stitches above his left eyebrow. Inflicted on him by a six year old girl. To be fair, Zoe didn't think she was hitting anyone (or so we hope).

The kids were goofing around in the basement before school and Carter and Charlie were in the little tent I have set up downstairs. Zoe picked up a plastic (yes, plastic) kids chair and lobbed it at the tent. Unfortunately it made contact with the boys head. Boy did it bleed and boy is it ugly.

This one will show unlike the other two sets of stitches which is hair hides. The scar will be jagged as well. Hopefully it will be cool looking as he gets older or hopefully at least he'll think it's cool.

I'm so very done with stitches; wish Carter knew that as well.

She's a Taekwondo Warrior Princess!

We decided to sign the kids up for Taekwondo this winter. There first class was three weeks ago. Athena got her uniform last week as did Carter. I only took photo's of Athena as Carter's pants are about 3 inches too short. I forgot to get his photo tonight. I'll try to remember to do it next week.

Athena is like a fish in water. She is super good at this. I think ballet helps her - lots of choreography and movements to memorize. This will hopefully give her some skills in how to focus and maintain control.

Tonight was their third week and Master Gaines decided Athena was ready to break a board. She was super nervous and I don't think she thought she could do it. Master Gaines had faith for the both of them and walked her through it and convinced her she could do it and do it she did! It was absolutely super cool to watch!

Top Teeth are Gone

Well for just the day if even that long. Athena's second top tooth came out on January 10. Good thing too as the two new teeth were already poking through. Athena told someone yesterday that her new teeth are "HUGE!". Let's hope she grows into them. :~)
