Is Santa Alive For Real?

Is the question of the day from Carter. I answered "Yes", of course. Well, where does he live again? "The North Pole." "Oh yeah, that's right."

Happy Mother's Day Daddy!

This is what Carter said as he ran into our bedroom on Sunday morning. Little turd bucket! :~)

He made me a lovely clay heart necklace at school as well as a pinch pot. The necklace, or so I've been told, is for everyone. Some days I'm allowed to wear it and some days I'm not. He also decorated a flower pot at school and brought that home with a little flower in it.

Athena got off the bus on Friday, saw me and panicked! She pulled up her dress (thankfully we're one of the last stops so no one was on the bus to see her) in order to hide the paper bag with my gift in it. She told me to close my eyes and went immediately to her room. When she came back down a few minutes later, she was carrying the bag and told me that I had to open my gift as Mrs. Jones said it couldn't wait. It was a flower in a little cup.

The kids bought me some plants for the garden as well as a garden gnome. It's a dog holding a sign - one side says "Welcome" while the other says "Go Away".  They ask me to put the go away side out all of the time but I won't do it.

We went to Carol and John's for dinner. It was so much fun! The kids went in the hot tub with their Daddy and cried when it was time to leave.  Not too much longer and camp will be open.  The kids can't wait!

Athena's Ballet Recital 2009

Athena's ballet recital on Saturday. She's doing so much better this year. More doing by herself and less following of others. She moves up this Fall to the next group!

Athena and her friend Zoe (Athena plays soccer with Zoe and she lives around the corner from us):

Zoe, Athena and Sofia:

Athena is in green with the pony tail - I did my best to follow her - she's on the left side.

For George

The kids spent quite a bit of time putting these on each other. They wanted to be like George :~)

BAE Variety Show 2009

Athena was once again in her school variety show. She participated in the 1st Grade group act. The theme was the 50's so music was tame and costumes easy this year.  Athena's partner was Jordan Newman - a perfect match. He's petite like Athena and such a sweet boy. Athena was very comfortable dancing with him.

This is a photo of Athena and her friend and classmate Emma (who is British):

Here's Athena and Jordan:

This is at the end of the entire show with all of the kids on stage:

Headless Bunnies and Wonderful Words

I have to write about this. Charlie has caught two baby bunnies and has left us presents. Well, not really presents, more like bunny bodies minus the heads.  It seems that unbeknownst to us, baby bunny heads and ears are a delicacy for cats.  The kids have found it very fascinating to inspect the bodies.

Last Sunday was our last "present". After church, the kids and Dad took the body to the dumpster at the floral shop. Later that afternoon, we were at my parents when our neighbor down the street, Susan, called to ask if we were okay as the dumpster was on fire. Seems plumes of smoke and noxious fumes were spewing around everywhere. We rushed home but by then the fire was out and luckily the wind kept the house from having any smell.

Now on to wonderful words:

Carter, on his own initiative, decided to make a card for his teacher, Ms. Linda. He drew her inside the card (first time he's drawn a person's face) and he wrote his name on his own (first time since Christmas). The next day, he decided to write a note for his Dad. All it said over and over was "Love". He wrote all of the words himself.  I'm hoping this means we're over the learning slump for now!

Easter Photos 2009

Here's photos at Carter's school on Good Friday. They had an Easter egg hunt inside as it was rainy and wet outside. Carter and the rest of his friends didn't care. All they cared about was getting candy.  Athena had the day off school so she was able to come along and they let her participate.

Easter was quiet this year. Nice weather if a bit on the chilly side. Brunch at Mom & Dad's then dinner at Glenn's. Easter egg hunt was at Glenn's.

Here's photos of Carter and Athena.  I just love this dress on Athena.
